Paterno Street location in San Juan, ending another chapter in a culinary legacy that spans more than four decades.The restaurant announced the closure in a social media post, inviting diners to visit one last time on Thursday, July 23, before it moves to a new location.&quot;As one of Manila&#x27;s oldest restaurants, serving guests since 1982, we invite you to dine with us one last time before we close this chapter and start a new one,&quot; Café Ysabel said.The restaurant added that the move is &quot;not goodbye, but the beginning of a new chapter,&quot; although it has yet to announce where it will reopen.Founded in 1982 by chef Gene Gonzalez, Café Ysabel became a landmark in San Juan, known for its romantic setting inside restored ancestral homes and its blend of Filipino and international cuisine. Over the years, it also became a popular venue for weddings, family celebrations and special occasions.The closure marks the restaurant&#x27;s second relocation in less than a decade. In 2017, Café Ysabel left its longtime home on P. Guevarra Street — a property where Corner House now sits — before reopening on M. Paterno in 2018.The M. Paterno property also gained wider recognition after serving as one of the principal filming locations for the Filipino Netflix original series &quot;Replacing Chef Chico,&quot; the romantic drama starring Piolo Pascual, Sam Milby and Alessandra de Rossi that showcased Filipino cuisine and kitchen culture.Café Ysabel has not announced the location or opening date of its next home but said it is preparing to reopen after closing its current site.
