MNL Fashion Week (MNLFW) will return for its second edition on September 3-6 at the SMX Convention Center of the SM Aura Premier, with four days of back-to-back runway shows by 11 Pinoy designers, pop-up galleries, and cultural displays to position Filipino fashion to &quot;stand alongside the great fashion weeks of Asia and the world.&quot;During a press event at Moderna by Al Dente, MNL Fashion Week founder and executive director John Lozano introduced the 11 Filipino labels -- Antonina, HA.MÜ, Yong Studio, Charlotte Folk, Randolf, nicolò, Proudrace, Lorico, Lilah Roché, Yana Kalaw Studios, and Killjoy Studios -- representing modern minimalism, anti-fashion maximalism, heritage craft, and streetwear.“We are focusing more on designers who are brands themselves,” Lozano said.<div><img src="https://od2-image-api.abs-cbn.com/prod/editorImage/1786406610964image0.jpeg" style="width:960px" class="fr-fic fr-dib" width="960"/>11 Pinoy fashion labels to showcase collections. Handout </div>Reflecting on the journey that led to the creation of the fashion event, which is now supported by JAG and DOST, Lozano recalled, “My mom made me watch a video of my sisters in a school fashion show.”That curiosity led him through 20 years as a stylist, then to Manila X, where he combined music and fashion; BYS Fashion Week, where he used a beauty brand&#x27;s reach to bring fashion to more people; and Flique, a street-style magazine designed so that readers could see themselves in the pages.MNL Fashion Week, he explained, is the next chapter in the same mission. “Fashion should be consumed, should be enjoyed, should be for everybody. It’s not just for people who can afford it or for people who have time to embrace it.”“Fashion is meant to be enjoyed and consumed by as many people as possible,” Lozano added.Pledging to maintain the same level of creativity as the previous year while going above and beyond, Lozano continued, “We&#x27;re still going to highlight the best of the best in terms of Filipino brands and designers, and at the same time, it&#x27;s always a constant pursuit to push the boundaries and to see where we can bring the quality of shows here in the Philippines.”He went on to thank the mounting team, directors, designers, and production designers for their contributions to the highly anticipated fashion week, which was previously attended by big names in showbiz and fashion.<div><img src="https://od2-image-api.abs-cbn.com/prod/editorImage/1786406653325image1 (1).jpeg" style="width:655px" class="fr-fic fr-dib" width="655"/>MNL Fashion Week founder John Lozano. Instagram </div>He was also asked to comment on the emergence of numerous fashion runways and events and whether he considered them to be competitions. “I don&#x27;t see them as competitors because we&#x27;re all striving for the same goal. It just goes to show how much interest there is in fashion,” he shared. “We’re so used to being divided. There’s always that division, and I feel like that’s the biggest thing that’s holding us back.”Keeping the door open rather than drawing a line, he added, &quot;It&#x27;s not to prove anything, or to show the world that we can do this better than anyone else. It&#x27;s really about bringing everyone together — anyone who wants to help push Filipino fashion forward globally is welcome to join MNL Fashion Week.&quot;When asked what MNLFW needs to become in the next three years, his response was almost anti-ambitious: “It doesn&#x27;t necessarily need to become anything. I believe it is where it should be right now; if anything, it needs to be more consistent. If we stay consistent and true to our values, good things will happen.”The legacy that he seeks is measured in community, not scale: &quot;If there&#x27;s one thing I want MNL Fashion Week to be remembered for in the next three, five, or ten years, it&#x27;s that we brought the Filipino fashion community together. I want it to be a celebration of Filipino fashion, not a showcase. I don&#x27;t mind if it stays small or grows, as long as Filipinos know there&#x27;s a celebration waiting for them once or twice a year.&quot;MNL Fashion Week 2026, taking place from September 3-6 at the SMX Convention Center of SM Aura in Taguig, will be attended by regional content creators from Vietnam, including Bá Tùng &quot;Tyler&quot; and Nguyen Ngoc Linh Chau, as well as Cissy Lia and Helen Hiuu from Indonesia. The runway will also welcome visiting Thai celebrities, including Chaikamon Sermsong Wittaya (&quot;Boss&quot;), Anupart Luangsodsai, (&quot;Ngern&quot;), Tharathon Phumphothingam (&quot;Oat&quot;), Siwaj Sawatmaneekul (&quot;New&quot;), Thanakorn Wichanukhor (&quot;Min&quot;), and Jarukit Kaewmoonrueang (&quot;Toptap&quot;).“It only makes sense for us to double or triple that effort to make sure our local designers get the international recognition they deserve,” PR director Vani Altomonte ended.
