While many associate feng shui with the arrangement of furniture, the discipline goes way beyond that. It all begins with life energy or chi. From this, there are three kinds of luck: heaven luck which is affected by the movement of the stars, earth luck which is how the wind and water flow around the environment, and human luck, which is work and effort.It&#x27;s fascinating how Fernandez intertwines the two disciplines, describing the energies as one big data set. It&#x27;s all about finding patterns in the movement of heavenly bodies, and the flow of elements that can all be recorded and tracked.He then proceeds to dispel the belief that feng shui masters give predictions.&quot;I see it as talking about events with higher probabilities so that you can take action. For example, there is a weather forecast for rain. It&#x27;s up to you to bring an umbrella so you don’t get wet,&quot; he said.Fernandez&#x27; family has been in business since 1994 where they had a shop in the old Mandarin Oriental with Paul Lau, known for pushing feng shui to the mainstream back in the &#x27;90s with his frequent appearances on Julie Yap Daza&#x27;s show, &quot;Tell The People.&quot;When the Mandarin was closed back in 2014, the Yin &amp; Yang Shop of Harmony moved to the New World Makati Hotel lagoon where the family holds consultations, with charms and crystals available on the store shelves.Their business is very popular particularly during Chinese New Year, where they talk about what awaits the different animal zodiac signs. Fernandez said that on the money side, the coming Lunar Year of the Fire Horse will be good for those born in the year of the Rabbit, Horse, Pig, and Rooster.Those under the Goat, Rabbit, Dog, and Rooster signs can look forward to business and career advancements, while the Ox, Snake, Goat, and Rooster will find harmony in relationships this year.On the not so lucky side, those born in the year of the Rat should beware as the Horse is in conflict with this Chinese animal zodiac.The Snake, Horse, Tiger, and Pig should watch their health this year. Fernandez even recommends getting a blood test and a checkup before the Lunar New Year starts. As for the country, Fernandez talked about fire, the sun, and its illuminating qualities which promise to reveal much of that which is hidden.&quot;It will be a year of quick, impulses. People will just say things and do things out of impulse. Especially for the leaders of the country, this is something that they should be mindful of,&quot; he said.The feng shui master then concluded on a hopeful note.&quot;It&#x27;s all about love. Hopefully, we get love again. With the energies, hopefully, especially a lot of our leaders, will be able to use the good energy on their behalf for the country, I think our country now can use a little bit of love,&quot; he said. The Yin &amp; Yang Shop of Harmony is located within the lagoon area of the New World Makati Hotel and is open from Monday to Saturday, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Check them out on Facebook for more information and for appointments.
