Hans Magdurulang further emphasized the deeper meaning of this day.“Ang pag-aayuno sa Biyernes Santo ay hindi lamang tungkol sa pag-iwas sa pagkain. Ito rin ay pagtigil sa paggawa ng mali, sa masasakit na salita, at sa kasalanan. Higit sa lahat, ito ay paanyaya sa taimtim na pananalangin at sa pagsasabuhay ng kabutihan sa araw-araw.”“Ang sakripisyo ay hindi natatapos sa kamatayan o paghihirap. Tulad ng ipinakita ni Kristo, bawat kabutihang ginagawa at bawat sakripisyong iniaalay para sa kapwa ay may gantimpalang naghihintay sa tamang panahon. Ang pananampalataya ay hindi lamang ginugunita, kundi isinasabuhay sa pagmamahal at paglilingkod sa kapwa,” he added.For Fr. Hans, Good Friday is also a reminder that faith is not passive.“Sa bawat simpleng gawa ng kabutihan, sa bawat sandaling pag-aalay ng sarili para sa iba, doon natin nakikita ang tunay na diwa ng pananampalataya. Ang Diyos ay hindi lamang nasa mga ritwal o tradisyon, kundi nasa puso at gawa ng bawat isa.”Beyond suffering and hardship lies hope — the promise of resurrection and the reward of selfless acts. In the stillness of this solemn day, the message becomes clear: true faith is lived daily through love, compassion, and service to others.
