<div><span class="fr-img-caption fr-fic fr-dib" style="width:960px;display:block" width="960"><span class="fr-img-wrap"><img src="https://od2-image-api.abs-cbn.com/prod/editorImage/17850231015281785023098742.jpeg" style="width:960px" class="fr-fic fr-dib" width="960"/><span class="fr-inner" style="text-align:left">The Philippine Postal Corporation unveils its new Postal ID and upgraded Express Mail Service (EMS) Next Day Delivery in Manila on November 5, 2024, in hopes of modernizing and expand its services to become a more competitive player on e-commerce and logistics sector in the country. <em>Mark Demayo, ABS-CBN News </em></span></span></span></div><p>MANILA — Students applying for scholarships, fresh graduates looking for work and other Filipinos getting their first government-issued ID do not need to worry about presenting another valid ID first.</p><p>The Philippine Postal Corporation (PHLPost) said Thursday that a Postal ID application does not require an existing government-issued identification card. </p><p>The agency issued the reminder amid a common misconception that first-time applicants must already possess another government-issued ID before they can obtain one.</p><p>PHLPost said applicants only need to submit: </p><ul style="margin-top:0;margin-bottom:0;padding-inline-start:48px"><li dir="ltr" style="list-style-type:disc;color:#000000;background-color:transparent;text-decoration:none;vertical-align:baseline;white-space:pre"><p>a birth certificate; </p></li><li dir="ltr" style="list-style-type:disc;color:#000000;background-color:transparent;text-decoration:none;vertical-align:baseline;white-space:pre"><p>proof of address; and </p></li><li dir="ltr" style="list-style-type:disc;color:#000000;background-color:transparent;text-decoration:none;vertical-align:baseline;white-space:pre"><p>a duly accomplished<a href="https://phlpost.gov.ph/news_and_updates/postal-id-application-form/"> Postal ID application form</a>.</p></li></ul><p>For applicants without a barangay certificate, the agency said other documents showing a current residential address—such as electricity, water or internet bills—may be accepted.</p><p>The Postal ID may be used for transactions such as opening bank accounts, applying for a passport, claiming parcels and completing other legal and financial requirements.</p><p>“The Postal ID has always been intended to make it easier for Filipinos to establish their identity, especially those applying for their first government-issued ID,” Postmaster General and CEO Maximo C. Sta.
