In a kabitserye, apart from the main couple and the “side piece,” there’s another character that adds an intriguing twist – the mother-in-law. “Linlang: The Teleserye Version” has one feisty MIL character in Amelia, played by Diamond Star Maricel Soriano.

But she has found a worthy rival in her daughter-in-law’s grandma Pilar (Ruby Ruiz), whose arsenal consists of her calm demeanor and penchant for sarcasm.

Whenever Amelia showcases her boastful side, Pilar opts for silence, but her eye movements and facial expressions reveal her annoyance. For instance, during Pilar's visit to Juliana at the Lualhati residence, she observed Amelia showing favoritism towards her biological son, Alex (JM De Guzman), a contrast to how he treats his stepson Victor (Paulo Avelino). Pilar's only comment was that Alex seemed like a good guy, but Amelia swiftly took credit and emphasized that Alex’s goodness stems from her upbringing.

Slowly, Pilar seems to have reached her breaking point due to Amelia’s arrogance. In the scene where Juliana’s family visits Alex and Sylvia's (Kaila Estrada) house, Amelia seized the opportunity to boast about its stunning interior, five bedrooms, and good ventilation. As they discussed the possible reasons for Juliana and Victor’s fight, Amelia couldn’t shake the thought of infidelity being a factor, suggesting that either of the two could be cheating. Well, enough of the innuendos, as Pilar chose to confront Amelia directly in the next scene. She requested that Amelia at least help Juliana and Victor fix their marital problems before it lead to separation.
