10 times Robert low-key supported and admired his son Edward in Love in 40 Days

It might be a struggle dealing with strict parents but let’s admit, their rules and principles become our weapons as we move into adulthood. Through their protective ways, we learn essential life skills and eventually realize that their love has been abundant all along. In Love in 40 Days, Robert (Bart Guingona) might be strict but he sure cares for his son Edward (Ronnie Alonte), shown in this Kapamilya Toplist of scenes.

Robert is in awe of his son’s business skills. He’s impressed how Edward easily attracts clients and investors, and thinks ahead of the problem. In a heartwarming scene, Robert said Edward has the brains and charm, and he’s the better entrepreneur than his sister Eileen (Chie Filomeno), who lacks the ‘it’ factor despite her hard work.

In that scene, Robert recalled a part of Edward and Eileen’s childhood wherein the latter went home with more medals, but Edward’s charm easily won their grandfather’s heart.

And because Edward is a brilliant businessman, Robert gives him the respect he deserves. Robert trusts his son’s decisions in life. He was the only family member who was happy over Edward investing money and dreams in his bar business. He knows Edward can operate not just the business but his life more so. He also said people would be flocking to Edward’s band’s gigs because of his talent.

Robert wants to give Edward a good future by training him as their company’s next president, although Edward wants to juggle business and his main passion which is music.

While Andrea (Mylene Dizon) has been stuck in Edward’s mistakes in the past, Robert doesn’t want to blame him for anything. He even asks Andrea to give their son a chance to prove himself.

If we think about it, Robert only wants to teach Edward that in life, nothing worth having comes easy, thus wanting him to make an effort in achieving big dreams.
