Despite their celebrity status, Chesca Kramer and Aubrey Miles have parenting stories that all moms could relate to – whether that be about raising responsible kids, tipid hacks, and feeling guilty about taking “me time.”

Join them as they talk about their ‘diskarteng momshies’ in this episode of Magandang Buhay The Podcast hosted by Jolina Magdangal, Melai Cantiveros, and Regine Velasquez-Alcasid.

In a nutshell, here are the best tips from Chesca and Aubrey that you shouldn’t miss out on!

Even the rich and famous are looking for ways to save money, especially at this time of soaring inflation. To reduce grocery expenses, you may try growing your own food, according to Chesca, who started backyard farming during the height of the pandemic. She’s also raising chickens for eggs. Meanwhile, Aubrey’s smart financial hack is making a grocery list (and sticking to it). She also checks the items’ expiration dates to make sure food is not going to waste.

From there, they tackled raising responsible kids with the help of household chores. Despite having helpers at home, Chesca trains her children in household tasks. The eldest Kendra acts as her siblings’ tutor, Scarlet can cook and bake, while Gavin is taught to tidy up his toys. In Aubrey’s home, her kids follow the rule of cleaning their own rooms since they don’t have nannies. Momshies Regine and Melai also shared their experiences in this portion!

They further discussed the importance of taking “me time,” which Aubrey admittedly feels guilty about, especially when going out on dates with husband Troy Montero and then leaving her 3-year-old daughter Rocket under the care of the elder kids. “Minsan lang naman,” she described the amount of guilt.

Chesca encouraged all moms to recharge once in a while. It can be in the form of talking with friends, shopping, or having your nails done. She stressed that attending to your own needs doesn’t make you selfish but it can be beneficial to your relationship with the family.

“You cannot give what you do not have. Tayong mga momshies, we also have to give time for ourselves, and why should we feel guilty? Ma-guilty ka na hindi mo binibigyan ng time ‘yung sarili mo tapos inaaway mo ‘yung mga anak mo,” she said.

Even the husbands need their alone time, too. Even the kids sometimes have to play on their own to develop creativity. Goes to show that in the family, “me time” is just as important as “we time.”

Momshies will sure learn a lot of ‘diskarte’ from Chesca and Aubrey’s parenting styles. Catch the full conversation in this podcast episode of Magandang Buhay!
