Still no talks between Duterte, Quiboloy: sect spokesman

DAVAO CITY - Presumptive president Rodrigo Duterte has not spoken to Pastor Apollo Quiboloy since the Christian sect leader complained of being shut out from the selection of new cabinet secretaries, Quiboloy's spokesman said Saturday.

"Nalulungkot kami. Si pastor tumatawag ngayong gabi, ang sabi hindi totoo na nag-usap na sila," Mike Abe of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ told ABS-CBN News.

The flamboyant leader of the Davao-based KJC had lent Duterte his private jet and helicopter for the campaign and vowed to lead a revolution if he was cheated.

However, there has been no communication between the two since 2 a.m. of May 10, after initial counts showed Duterte won, Abe said.

It was Abe who made Quiboloy's sentiments public. Duterte's spokesman, Peter Lavina said the apparent snub was not intentional.

Abe said Quiboloy held no grudge against Duterte and only wanted to help his long-time friend.

"Gusto naman niya talagang makatulong eh. Tutulong siya sa maayos na paghahanda ng incoming government, dahil kaibigan niya. Sabi ni pastor, kaibigan niya si mayor kaya kailangang tulungan bilang spiritual adviser," Abe said.

But he said Quiboloy wondered why it was now difficult for him to reach Duterte.

"Ganoon pa rin ang sitwasyon kasi dapat nakarating na kay mayor. Posibleng ‘di alam ito ni mayor. Lumabas na sa lahat ng balita eh. Umikot na ito sa buong mundo. Kung si mayor naman ay binabalewala [si pastor] ito ay hindi natin alam. Basta nasa kanilang side iyan, ‘di namin sila kaaway. Open pa rin kami," he said.
