File Photo</div></figcaption></figure></div>Former Philippine Marine Captain Nicanor Faeldon will head the Bureau of Customs, according to a source in the camp of president-elect Rodrigo Duterte.Faeldon will be in charge of the controversial office, <a href="http://news.abs-cbn.com/focus/08/28/15/boc-most-corrupt-among-36-govt-agencies-sws-survey">dubbed as</a> among the Philippines&#x27; most corrupt government agencies.Duterte himself named Customs as among the most corrupt and even mulled disbanding the bureau.The Bureau of Customs is under the Department of Finance, which will be headed by former agriculture secretary Carlos Dominguez.READ: <a href="http://news.abs-cbn.com/halalan2016/nation/05/24/16/duterte-hits-3-most-corrupt-government-agencies">Duterte hits 3 &#x27;most corrupt&#x27; government agencies</a>In an earlier interview, Duterte&#x27;s top aide Bong Go said Faeldon will be a key part of the administration.&quot;Ito importante to sa administrasyon ni Mayor,&quot; Go said, while pointing to Faeldon.Faeldon, who used to be allied with Senator Antonio Trillanes IV, first gained fame when he and a group of junior officers led the Oakwood mutiny in the Makati Business District on July 27, 2003, during the Arroyo administration.Among those who accompanied him in leading the mutiny were Army Captains Gerardo Gambala and Milo Maestrecampo and then- Navy officer Trillanes.Back then, Faeldon and the leaders of the mutiny said they staged the mutiny to protest corruption in the military and the participation of several ranking military officers in partisan politics.He was jailed for two years and then escaped while being brought to a court hearing in Makati City.Faeldon&#x27;s notoriety grew when he, as a fugitive, posted pictures showing him inside the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Western Command headquarters in Puerto Princesa, Palawan, and another set showing him inside the AFP Southern Command headquarters in Zamboanga City.In January 2006, he was arrested. A year later, he became a fugitive anew after escaping from the Manila Peninsula hotel during a Trillanes-led siege.The PNP had offered a million peso bounty for Faeldon&#x27;s arrest.
