<figure class="op-social"><iframe frameBorder="0" height="383" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/WC_saqHK7Ak" width="510"></iframe></figure><p>MANILA - Incoming President Rodrigo Duterte and Vice-President elect Leni Robredo will hold separate inauguration ceremonies on June 30.</p><p>Boyet Dy, head of Robredo&#x27;s transition team, said: &quot;We were informed by the team of President-elect Rody Duterte about their preference to hold the inauguration separately.&quot;</p><p>&quot;While we have been preparing for a joint inauguration, we respect their decision and will begin our own preparations for a simple and modest ceremony,&quot; he said in a statement.</p><p>In an interview with ANC&#x27;s Dateline Philippines, Dy said they got the advice from the inauguration committee about the separate inaugurations Tuesday afternoon.</p><p>&quot;We were initially preparing for a scenario that the inauguration would be joint, based on our initial conversations and coordination. But after the advice that was given...we would really take our cues from the team of President-elect Duterte with regard to the preparations for the inauguration. And when they made that decision, we really respect the decision and we made sure we can make our own preparations right away for a simple and modest inauguration for VP-elect Robredo,&quot; he said.</p><p>Asked why Duterte wanted a separate inauguration, he said: &quot;I think it&#x27;s a question that is better directed to the camp of President-elect Duterte to be able to answer and clarify. But my impression is that I think part of the consideration given that the President-elect also wants a simple and low-key event. There may be considerations in terms of being able to accommodate as many guests as possible. But as I said, I think that&#x27;s better directed to their camp to clarify.&quot;</p><p>He also thanked the inauguration committee for giving assurance that they will provide support and assistance for Robredo&#x27;s own inauguration ceremony. Part of the preparations include printing and sending out invitations, decorations and booking a location.</p><p>The transition team earlier said the inauguration of Vice-President Robredo will be conducted in Metro Manila. She will be sworn in by Ronaldo D. Coner, the village chief of Barangay Punta Tarawal, Calabanga - the poorest barangay in Camarines Sur.</p><div><strong>5-MINUTE SPEECH</strong></div><p>Duterte earlier told reporters that he will take his oath of office in Malacañang to lessen the expenses that go with the ceremony.</p><p>He said he will only serve finger foods for the guests, take his oath, and give a 5-minute speech during his inauguration on June 30.</p><p>&quot;Doon na lang [Palace] kasi wala nang gastos. May finger food lang siguro because it&#x27;s nearing noontime, but there will be no eating after. Before lang, tapos mag-oath ako.
