MANILA – Jealousy allegedly drove a man to hack his live-in partner to death on Tuesday night in Valenzuela City.

The suspect, Richard Sison, is under observation at a hospital for trying to kill himself after the incident.

His live-in partner, Maricel Tan, 32-years old, died from hack wounds. Tan's infant relative was also injured in the incident that happened inside her home in Tampoy Street, Marulas.

According to Tan's family, Maricel was trying to break off with Sison because of physical abuse.

"Nagulat na lang ako ng pumunta dito sabi ng mga kapitbahay ko, pinagtatadyakan ang pintuan tapos pinagsasaksak ang anak ko, selos daw po dahil sabog daw sa droga yan," said Tan's father, Salvador.

Police recovered the weapon used by the suspect.

"Gusto raw kasi makipagbalikan, ayaw na ni misis kaya siguro hindi matanggap at ganoon na nga ang ginawa niya, said Chief Inspector Rhoderick Juan of the Valenzuela Police.

Tan leaves behind three children.

"Sana ibuwis mo na lang din ang buhay mo. Sobra ginawa mo sa anak ko," the victim's father said.

Authorities are now preparing murder charges against the suspect. Report from Doland Castro, ABS-CBN News
