Composite</figcaption></figure></div>MANILA - President Rodrigo Duterte has appointed to government posts retired police director Benjamin Magalong and former beauty queen Margie Moran Floirendo, appointment papers released by Malacañang revealed Friday.Duterte appointed Magalong as a member of the board of directors of the Philippine National Oil Company. He will serve the unexpired term of Bruce Concepcion until June 30, 2018.Magalong was the deputy chief for operations, the third highest position in the Philippine National Police, upon his retirement.He led the police investigation into the deaths of 44 elite police troopers in a PNP Special Action Force (SAF) operation against terrorists Zulkifli Bin Hir and Abdul Basit Usman in Mamasapano, Maguindanao in 2015.The Magalong-led police Board of Inquiry held former President Benigno Aquino III, former PNP Chief Alan Purisima and other police officials liable for the botched operation.Floirendo, on the other hand, was appointed member of the board of trustees of the Cultural Center of the Philippines. She will serve the unexpired term of Danilo Dolor until June 30, 2018.Floirendo, who was crowned Miss Universe in 1973, is the estranged wife of Davao del Norte Representative Antonio Floirendo Jr., a strong supporter of the President.Aside from Magalong and Floirendo, Duterte also appointed Marco Magala Bautista as Tourism undersecretary, Nelson Laluces as deputy director general at the Intellectual Property Office, Crisostomo Gotladera as board member of Home Development Mutual Fund, Maria Theresa Teves-Castaños as board member of Food Terminal, Inc., Eduardo Pelaez as board member of the Tourism Promotions Board, and Elizaldy Co as board member of the Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority.
