<p>MANILA - Improving workers&#x27; pay and controlling inflation top the list of issues that Filipinos want the Duterte administration to address, the latest Pulse Asia survey revealed Friday.</p><p>The poll, conducted from December 6-11, 2016, showed that the most often mentioned urgent national concern of Filipinos is the need to increase workers&#x27; pay (45%).</p><p>The other top urgent national concerns include:</p><p>Controlling inflation (34%)<br/>Reducing poverty of many Filipinos (33%)<br/>Fighting criminality (33%)<br/>Creating more jobs (31)<br/>Fighting graft and corruption in government (31%)</p><div class="embed-wrap"><figure data-feedback="fb:likes,fb:comments"><img src="http://sa.kapamilya.com/absnews/abscbnnews/media/2017/news/01/12/table-4-011317_1.jpg"/></figure></div><p>&quot;Overall, the top first mentioned urgent national concerns are criminality (18%) and workers’ pay (16%),&quot; the survey stated. </p><p>Out of the 15 issues included in the probe, most Filipinos are least concerned about charter change and terrorism. Both received 4% in the survey. </p><p>Pulse Asia said that the only notable movement during the period September to December 2016 is the 7% decrease in the level of concern about job creation.</p><p>&quot;No majority concerns are recorded across geographic areas and socio-economic groupings,&quot; it said. </p><div class="embed-wrap"><figure data-feedback="fb:likes,fb:comments"><img src="http://sa.kapamilya.com/absnews/abscbnnews/media/2017/news/01/12/table-6-011317_1.jpg"/></figure></div><p>While Metro Manila residents are concerned about workers’ pay (44%), jobs (35%), and poverty (33%), those in Luzon are worried about workers’ pay as well (45%), criminality (35%) and also poverty (33%).<br/> <br/>In the Visayas, the most often cited national concerns are workers’ pay (45%), fighting criminality (40%), and poverty reduction (35%) while in Mindanao, these are workers’ pay (44%), inflation (38%), jobs (35%), poverty (34%), and corruption in government (33%). </p><p>For those in the Class ABC, the most mentioned national concerns are jobs (39%), workers&#x27; pay (38%), inflation (37%), criminality (34%), corruption (31%), peace (26%) and poverty (23%)</p><p>In Class D and E, increasing workers&#x27; pay is the leading urgent national concern.</p><p>&quot;In contrast, the common least often cited national concerns in all geographic areas and socio-economic classes are territorial defense (4% to 7% and 4% to 6%, respectively), charter change (3% to 5% and 3% to 4%, respectively), and terrorism (2% to 6% and 2% to 6%, respectively),&quot; Pulse Asia said.</p><p>The Duterte administration received majority approval ratings on 11 of the 12 issues included in the survey&#x27;s performance probe.</p><div class="embed-wrap"><figure data-feedback="fb:likes,fb:comments"><img src="http://sa.kapamilya.com/absnews/abscbnnews/media/2017/news/01/12/table-7-011317.jpg"/></figure></div><p>These issues are criminality (84%), disaster response (80%), corruption (76%), OFW welfare (75%), peace (72%), environment (69%), rule of law (69%), territorial defense (65%), jobs (58%), workers’ pay (57%), and poverty (51%). </p><p>&quot;It is only on the issue of controlling inflation – an issue considered urgent by 34% of Filipinos – on which the present dispensation fails to obtain a majority approval score (44%),&quot; Pulse Asia said.<br/> <br/>For the most part, public assessment of the administration’s performance remains constant between September and December 2016. </p><p>&quot;The only significant movements are the decline in approval ratings in relation to the latter’s efforts to increase the pay of workers’ (-7%), control inflation (-7%), and reduce poverty (-8%). </p><div class="embed-wrap"><figure data-feedback="fb:likes,fb:comments"><img src="http://sa.kapamilya.com/absnews/abscbnnews/media/2017/news/01/12/table-8-011317.jpg"/></figure></div><p>Pulse Asia said the government received 2% disapproval ratings on the issues on responding to the needs of those affected by disasters and 20% on controlling inflation.</p><p>Meanwhile, staying healthy (63%) and a having a secured and well-paying job (44%) are the primary urgent concerns for most Filipinos.</p><div class="embed-wrap"><figure data-feedback="fb:likes,fb:comments"><img src="http://sa.kapamilya.com/absnews/abscbnnews/media/2017/news/01/12/table1-011317.jpg"/></figure></div><p>&gt;  <br/>Other urgent personal concerns of Filipinos are finishing/providing education to their children and food security tied at 41%; being victim of any serious crime and to have enough savings both at 38%. Owning a house and lot seemed to be the least personal concern for most Filipinos at 34%.</p><div class="embed-wrap"><figure data-feedback="fb:likes,fb:comments"><img src="http://sa.kapamilya.com/absnews/abscbnnews/media/2017/news/01/12/table-2-011317.jpg"/></figure></div><p><br/>The primary first mentioned urgent personal concerns of Filipinos are health (25%) and employment (19%). </p><p>&quot;The only personal concern identified as urgent by majorities across geographic areas and socio-economic classes is health (54% to 68% and 58% to 67%, respectively),&quot; Pulse Asia said.</p><p>Filipinos living in Metro Manila are least concerned about personal food security (26%) while those in the rest of Luzon are less concerned about owning their own house and lot (27%).</p><p>For Visayas, personal savings (31%) and owning a house and lot (34%) are the least mentioned personal concerns while those surveyed in Mindanao are slightly concerned about criminality (35%) and personal savings (37%)</p><p>In Class ABC, owning a house and lot (26%) and food security (27%) are the least often cited personal concerns and those in Class D are least concerned about having their own place to live in (34%) and avoiding being a crime victim (36%) while those in Class E are least concerned about having some savings (26%).</p><p>Pulse Asia said that year-on-year, the only significant changes in public opinion on the matter are the increase in the level of concern about crime victimization (+8%) and the decline in the level of concern about schooling (-7%).</p><div class="embed-wrap"><figure data-feedback="fb:likes,fb:comments"><img src="http://sa.kapamilya.com/absnews/abscbnnews/media/2017/news/01/12/table-3-011317.jpg"/></figure></div>
