Dengue outbreak declared in Kawayan, Biliran

TACLOBAN CITY – The local government of Kawayan town in Biliran has declared a dengue outbreak.

According to the Executive Order No. 3 issued by Kawayan Mayor Rodolfo Espina Jr., the municipality has recorded 81 dengue cases as of Wednesday afternoon.

Of the total number of cases, 56 recovered, 7 were admitted in Biliran Provincial Hospital, 15 confined at the Rural Health Unit, 1 is under observation, 1 refused admission, and 1 reported death.

A 5-year old boy from Barangay Tucdao has died from dengue.

Barangay Mapuyo has the most number of dengue cases at 42, followed by Tucdao with 12, and Kansanoc, 8.

Other barangays with reported dengue cases are Burabod and Ungale with 6 cases; Madao, 3; and 1 case each for Balacson, Balite, Poblacion, and Villacornejo.
