Suspect in Adiong ambush killed: police

<p>MANILA (UPDATED) — One of the suspects in the ambush of Lanao del Sur Governor Mamintal Alonto Adiong Jr. on Friday has been killed in an armed encounter, the Philippine National Police (PNP) said Tuesday.</p><ul class="op-related-articles">	<li><a href="https://news.abs-cbn.com/news/02/17/23/lanao-del-sur-governor-injured-4-others-killed-in-ambush">Lanao del Sur Gov. Adiong hurt, 4 others killed in ambush</a></li></ul><p>Adiong and his staff member, Ali Macapado Tabao, sustained gunshot wounds while four others were killed in the ambush.</p><p>The slain suspect was identified as “Otin,&quot; while his father known as &quot;Fighter&quot; and 4 other suspects remain at large.</p><p>A Colt MK IV caliber .45 pistol, loaded with six live bullets, was recovered from the slain suspect, who the PNP said had been a subject of intelligence operations from Feb. 17 to 19.</p><p>The PNP said it is coordinating with the victims and their families to get their statements on their account of the Feb. 17 ambush. <br/> <br/>PNP chief Gen.
