MANILA The Philippine National Police (PNP) Highway Patrol Group (HPG) Region 4-A filed 18 more complaints for large-scale estafa before the Department of Justice (DOJ) against 8 individuals allegedly behind the so-called &quot;rent-sangla&quot; car rental scam.<ul class="op-related-articles">	<li><a href="http://news.abs-cbn.com/business/02/17/17/watch-victims-explain-rent-sangla-scam-modus">WATCH: Victims explain &#x27;rent-sangla&#x27; scam modus</a></li></ul>The complainants hail from Bulacan, Laguna, Angeles City, Batangas and Nueva Ecija.Charged for violations of Article 315 of the Revised Penal Code (swindling/estafa in large-scale form) in relation to Presidential Decree 1689 (Increasing the penalty of certain forms of swindling/estafa) are the following respondents:<ul>	<li>Rafaela Montes Anunciacion of San Pedro City, Laguna;</li>	<li>Eleanor &quot;Leah&quot; Constantino Rosales, of Santa Rosa City, Laguna;</li>	<li>Tychicus Historillo Nambio, of Biñan, Laguna;</li>	<li>Jhennelyn Berroya, of San Pedro City, Laguna;</li>	<li>Anastacia Montes Cauyan, of Biñan, Laguna;</li>	<li>Eliseo Cortez, of Kabangaan, Tagaytay City;</li>	<li>Marilou V. Cruz, of San Ildefonso, Bulacan; and</li>	<li>Sabina Torrea, of Silang, Cavite</li></ul>Complainants alleged that they were deceived with fraudulent promises of rental income only to find out later that their vehicles were either mortgaged or sold to different persons without the knowledge and consent of the victims.The DOJ has ordered the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) to conduct an investigation into the scam.Separate complaints were filed earlier by the PNP-HPG in connection with the scam.<ul class="op-related-articles">	<li><a href="http://news.abs-cbn.com/news/02/17/17/doj-issues-lookout-bulletin-vs-rent-sangla-suspects">Immigration Lookout Bulletin Orders</a></li></ul>(ILBOs) had been issued by the DOJ against respondent Rosales, Nambio, and Anunciacion.
