MANILA (UPDATED) - Former senator Bong Revilla has sent a letter and chocolates to Senator Leila de Lima, his new fellow inmate at the Philippine National Police Custodial Center in Camp Crame.

"All I can say, Sen. Bong sent her chocolates with a note. Mabait ang asawa ko. Yun lang ang masasabi ko. He has a good heart," Revilla's wife, Bacoor Mayor Lani Mercado, said.

Mercado added that her husband and De Lima have yet to meet but said her family understands what the embattled senator feels.

Mercado added that they are willing to have De Lima join them in their prayer service in Camp Crame since the senator's detention cell is near Revilla's.

Mercado earlier said she is praying for De Lima and that the senator would now feel what Revilla felt when he, along with former senators Jinggoy Estrada and Juan Ponce Enrile, faced plunder charges over their alleged misuse of government funds and were jailed while De Lima was justice secretary.
