Ex-solon Roque Ablan Jr. passes away

<p>MANILA - Former Ilocos Norte Rep. Roquito &quot;Roque&quot; Ablan Jr. passed away on Monday at 85, his family said. </p><div><script src="https://connect.facebook.net/en_US/sdk.js#xfbml=1&amp;version=v2.5" async="" type="text/javascript"></script></div><div class="fb-post" data-href="https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10160322782970232&amp;set=a.10160322773950232.1073741885.880740231&amp;type=3&amp;theater" data-width="auto"> </div><p>&quot;My dad passed away peacefully this morning. Lucky to be at his bedside when he died,&quot; his son, Assistant Communications Secretary Kris Ablan, said in a Facebook post.</p><p>The cause of Ablan&#x27;s death was not released. Details of the wake have yet to be announced. </p><p>Ablan was an 8-term lawmaker who represented the 1st district of Ilocos Norte. His last stint as lawmaker was during the 14th Congress from 2007 to 2010. </p><p>He was a close friend and political ally of the late dictator Ferdinand Marcos. In 1998, he ran for governor and lost to Marcos&#x27; son and namesake, former Sen. Ferdinand &quot;Bongbong&quot; Marcos Jr.</p>
