10 Pasay detainees escape in Holy Monday jailbreak; at least 6 recaptured

At least 5 of them have been recaptured. <cite>Southern Police District</cite></p></div></div></div><p>The commander of the Malibay police station has been sacked following the pre-dawn jailbreak, the Pasay City police confirmed. </p><p>Pasay Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano gave police 24 hours to re-arrest the inmates. </p><p>Pasay City Police chief P/Col. Froilan Uy, meanwhile, told ABS-CBN&#x27;s TeleRadyo that the station does not have a required order to transfer the detainees to the city jail. </p><p>He argued cops at the station are not responsible for guarding the detainees. </p><p>According to Uy, one of the fugitives was able to get the jail cell key from one of the police officers at Malibay police station by seizing a weapon and a firearm from a police officer.</p><p>One of the policemen who responded to the incident was beaten up by the escapees, Uy said. The law enforcer is now under investigation and has been processed for charges of &quot;infidelity,&quot; the police chief said.</p><p>Uy said if the remaining fugitives surrender to authorities, additional charges will not be filed against them.</p><p>Citizens can arrest them without a warrant, he noted.</p><p>Those who have information on the whereabouts of the fugitives should report to the nearest police station, or through mobile numbers 09568005277, 09985987922, and 09173661036, the Southern Police District said. <strong>— With a report from Raffy Santos, ABS-CBN News </strong></p>
