More than 300 Filipino seafarers from Italy, Portugal back in the Philippines

<p>MANILA--More than 300 Filipino seafarers coming from ships docked in virus-hit Italy and Portugal returned to the Philippines Saturday afternoon, according to the Department of Foreign Affairs.</p><p>The DFA said in a statement that 185 Filipino crew from MSC Splendida docked in Genoa, and 122 Filipino crew from MSC Fantasia docked in Lisbon arrived at Ninoy Aquino International Airport at 1:12 p.m.</p><p>The department said it was assisted by the Philippine Embassy in Lisbon, the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration, the Department of Health (DOH) and the Philippine Transmarine Carriers Inc., the workers&#x27; local manning agency.</p><blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p dir="ltr" lang="en">Touch Down! They will be monitored by the DOH and the Bureau of Quarantine, the DFA said.</p><p>More than 1,000 Filipino crew from cruise ships docked in Italy, Spain and the United States earlier returned home and were quarantined to avoid contamination of COVID-19, which has been wreaking havoc across the world since its first emergence in China last December.</p>
