CEBU - A SWAT team checked on an alleged bomb threat near a hotel in Barangay Basak in Lapu-Lapu City early Tuesday but found no bomb.

Roving members of the Lapu-Lapu Allied Forces (CLAF) alerted police after finding a pile of styropor and cartons on top of stones across a hotel along V. Patalinhug Avenue.

A SWAT team was immediately called to check the items but no bomb was found. Instead, authorities found a piece of cardboard which had the words "Hire all PNP-AFP", "shooting," and "direct kill".

"There is a possibility that we (police) are being tested on our readiness. We should remain vigilant,” SWAT chief SPO4 Domeciano Luna said.

Police interrogated a certain Julius Bautista who was seen near the scene. He was later released when he was able to present an ID, proving that he is a security guard who just went to the area to visit his cousin.

Lapu-Lapu SWAT and Marigondon Police Station are now coordinating with the management of the hotel to get footage from their CCTV placed within the hotel's vicinity.
