MANILA—The "Pink Moon," or the full moon for the month of April, illuminated the night sky on Good Friday.

While it doesn't appear pink, the moon reached peak fullness at 7:12 p.m. according to state meteorological bureau PAGASA.

According to the "The Old Farmer's Almanac," April's full moon is called the Pink Moon because it heralds the appearance of the “moss pink,” or wild ground phlox — one of the early spring flowers.

"This year, April’s full Moon is also connected to Easter. It’s what’s known as the Paschal Full Moon, the full moon that determines Easter’s date," an article in the Almanac's website stated.

The next full moon will be the Flower Moon on May 18.
