MANILA - Luis Antonio Cardinal Tagle on Sunday celebrated the Holy Mass with the Filipino clergy in Rome, Italy, days after he was elevated as cardinal-bishop.

The mass, streamed online by the Pontificio Collegio Filippino, was in celebration of the Collegio Day, which coincided with the Fourth Sunday of Easter, also known as Good Shepherd Sunday.

In his homily, Tagle talked about Jesus' role as shepherd, and how as Catholics, everyone is baptized in Jesus, and thus, also has a vocation to serve others.

"There is a certain vocation for all os us, and it is to serve others. Without that sense of being called to serve others, you may enter many, many states of life, and still not fulfill your vocation," Tagle said.

Pope Francis on Friday elevated Tagle to the highest order among his closest collaborators in the Roman Catholic Church.

Tagle, 62, is currently the prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples, the Vatican's main missionary department.
