#HalalanResults: Ex-CIDG chief Benjamin Magalong is new Baguio mayor

MANILA—Benjamin Magalong won the Baguio City mayoralty, based on results Monday night.The retired police general garnered 41,207 votes, beating Edison Bilog (22,609).Magalong, a former chief of Criminal Investigation and Detection Group of the Philippine National Police, spearheaded the PNP&#x27;s <a href="https://news.abs-cbn.com/focus/02/09/15/full-video-what-went-wrong-mamasapano-operation" target="_blank">investigation</a> on the Mamasapano clash, which led to the death of 44 Special Action Force members.He retired in 2016, and was <a href="https://news.abs-cbn.com/news/01/05/18/duterte-appoints-margie-moran-saf-44-prober-to-govt-posts" target="_blank">appointed</a> by President Rodrigo Duterte as board member of the state-owned Philippine National Oil Co. in 2018.
