Mocha to apologize to Kris - Bong Go

MANILA - Palace Communications Assistant Secretary Mocha Uson is set to issue an apology to actress Kris Aquino for a Facebook post that had caused the latter deep hurt, saying it had disrespected her late parents, Special Assistant to the President Bong Go said Wednesday.

“She will apologize,” Go said in a press briefing in Malacañang.

Asked whether Uson will convey the apology publicly, Go said: “Maybe...Sang-ayon naman siya sa amin ni Pangulong Duterte sa pag-sorry (She agrees with me and President Duterte in saying sorry).”

Go said he also apologized to Aquino on behalf of the President.

“We conveyed our apologies for the incident concerning her and Mocha,” Go said.

“Naintindihan naman po niya ang punto ni Kris. At sabi niya sabihin mo, ‘we are sorry for the incident' (The President understood Kris' point. He said to tell her 'We are sorry for the incident.'’”

The youngest daughter of the slain former Senator Benigno Aquino Jr. and the late former president Corazon Aquino had gone on social media Tuesday night to call out Uson for disrespecting her parents in a bid to defend Duterte.

Uson had posted a video of the late Benigno Aquino Jr. receiving a kiss from two women just moments before he was assassinated on August 21, 1983 at the Manila airport now named after him.

The former sexy dancer posted the video amid controversy over Duterte's kiss with a Filipina in South Korea, when he met with the Filipino community there.

Go said Uson defended her actions.

“We understand the emotions of both sides since both leaders, referring to President Duterte and former senator Benigno Aquino, are well-respected and loved.... Ang sabi ni Mocha sa akin, ang purpose ng pag-upload is pinapakita niya na both leaders are well-loved (Mocha said her purpose for uploading [the video] is that both leaders are well-loved).”

Earlier Wednesday, Aquino said she reached out to Go after posting her lengthy video tirade against Uson and thanked Duterte's long-time aide for replying to her messages and "believing in the power of true and honest communication."

Aquino ended her post by assuring Go that he has her "sincerest gratitude."

"You have my sincere gratitude. We all have one goal, a nation we can be proud of, and the best possible prosperous lives for all Filipinos," Aquino said.

In a post and later a live video on both Instagram and Facebook, Aquino, who commands millions of followers online, had slammed what she described has been Uson's repetitive attacks against her family.

"[N]ung napanuod ko 'yung inupload mo para depensahan si Presidente Duterte (na ni minsan hindi ko pinakitaan ng hindi maganda) alam mo ba kung ano ang ginawa mo? Sinariwa mo ang sugat sa puso ng isang batang 12 years old nung pinaslang ng walang kalaban laban ang kanyang ama," Aquino said in her initial post.

Aquino also slammed Uson for disrespecting her mother, the late President Corazon Aquino, who died of cancer in August 2009.

"Umiyak ako ng tuloy tuloy dahil nainggit ako sa 2 babaeng nakahalik sa Dad ko bago siya pinatay. Isang regalong hindi binigay sa nanay ko na walang tigil mo ring binabastos," she said.

"Nangako akong hindi kita papatulan - but this time you crossed the line," she added.

(I couldn't stop crying because I was envious of the two women who were able to kiss my dad before he was killed, a gift that was not given to my mother who you continue to disrespect.)

In a live video later Tuesday night, a livid Aquino, holding back tears, warned Uson against attacking her parents ever again.

"I am giving you fair warning, isa pa na bastusin o babuyin mo ang tatay o ang nanay ko, magtutuos tayo (one more time that you disrespect or besmirch my dad or my mom, we will have a reckoning)."
