MANILA - A partial solar eclipse was seen in different parts of the Philippines Sunday afternoon.
Several members of the Philippine Astronomical Society gathered in Pasig City to see this year's solar eclipse.
Using telescopes and viewing apparatuses, the skywatchers looked at the sky to see the partial eclipse. The event was seen in different parts of the world, including in Africa and Asia.
In other countries, the moon almost completely covers the sun, resulting in a "ring of fire" or annular solar eclipse.

In the Philippines, a partial solar eclipse was seen. The eclipse was first seen at around 3:01 p.m. At around 4:22 p.m., 70 percent of the sun was covered.
In Batanes and Taiwan, around 90 percent of the sun was covered.

The annular solar eclipse coincided with this year's summer solstice.
