DAVAO CITY - A total of 25 former overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) who passed the Licensure Examination for Teachers (LET) received teaching kits from the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) on Friday.

DOLE-Davao region Assistant Director Jason Balais said this was in line with the program “Sa Pinas, Ikaw ang Ma’am/Sir!” or SPIMS.

SPIMS is a reintegration project of the National Reintegration Center for OFWs (NRCO), DOLE, and the Department of Education (DepEd).

The teaching kits include writing materials, a thumb drive, a netbook, and portable microphone.

Under the program, an OFW LET passer who has teaching experience is qualified.

The migrant worker may only apply for the program within three years after his or her overseas employment.

One of the beneficiaries is Dearly Tumangday, a public school teacher of Macambol Elementary School in Mati City.

Tumangday graduated with a degree in education in 2003. She passed the LET in the same year but decided to work as domestic worker in Hong Kong from 2004 to 2015.

This year, a total of 62 teachers were awarded teaching kits in the Davao region.
