MANILA - The Philippine Coast Guard said Monday it has filed charges against the shipping firm of the Hong Kong vessel that collided with Philippine boat Liberty 5 that left 14 fishermen missing on June 28.

The coast guard filed cases of reckless imprudence resulting in multiple homicide and damage to property against the shipping firm and officials of MV Vienna Wood before the Occidental Mindoro Prosecutor’s Office, said spokesman Commodore Armand Balilo.

Authorities extended until Tuesday its search and retrieval operations for the Filipino fishermen.

Liberty 5 was on its way to the Navotas fish port, while the Vienna Wood was bound for Australia from Subic, Zambales when the incident happened.
