God, wife, ghosts spook not-so-fearless ‘Bato’

<figure class="op-social"><iframe frameBorder="0" height="383" src="~//www.youtube.com/embed/noHUpmoW2Lk" width="510"></iframe></figure><p>MANILA – Philippine National Police Chief Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa looms large over the government’s ruthless anti-narcotics campaign, but the burly officer cowers in fear of three things: God, his wife and ghosts.</p><p>The bald four-star general, whose nickname matches his rock-solid build, has gained celebrity status since being picked by President Rodrigo Duterte to wage war against crime.</p><p>Dela Rosa said was not used to people asking to take selfies with him. Last week, a video of a smiling Dela Rosa bobbing his head from side to side on the sidelines of Duterte’s inaugural went viral on the internet.</p><div class="embed-wrap"><figure data-feedback="fb:likes,fb:comments"><img src="http://sa.kapamilya.com/absnews/abscbnnews/media/2016/nation2/07/07/duterte-bato_070716.jpg"/><figcaption><div class="embed-desc">President Rodrigo Duterte (L) gestures while talking to new Philippine National Police (PNP) Director General Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa during the PNP Assumption of Command Ceremony at police headquarters in Quezon City. <em>Reuters</em></div></figcaption></figure></div><p>In an interview with ABS-CBN’s “Umagang Kay Ganda” on Thursday, Dela Rosa was asked if there was anything he feared.</p><p>“Tatlo, number one si Lord, ayaw ko magka-atraso sa kanya,” he said.</p><p>“Number 2 misis ko,” he said, before waving to the camera for his wife. “Hi, langga.”</p><p>Dela Rosa said his wife has started to worry that he might fool around given his newfound celebrity.</p><p>“Nalulungkot lang ako. Pag-uwi ko sa bahay yung misis ko nagdadabog. Ikaw sikat ka na masyado mamaya marami ka na chicks diyan sa labas,” he said.</p><p>Dela Rosa admitted to a fear of ghosts.</p><p>“Takot ako sa multo. Kahit ano baril mo sa multo, hindi tatamaan ‘yan,” he said.</p><p>Dela Rosa said he fights stress by playing the computer game “Clash of Clans” and like his boss, enjoys snacking on “maruya” or deep fried bananas.</p>
