MANILA - Transportation authorities on Friday said they would go after the owner and the driver of a bus caught speeding “recklessly” along EDSA in a viral video.

In a statement, the Department of Transportation (DOTr), the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) and the Land Transportation Office said they would immediately investigate and summon the operator and driver of the bus, owned by Joanna Jesh Transport.

"...Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade has directed both the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) and the Land Transportation Office (LTO) to conduct an immediate investigation, and issue the necessary show cause order today to the said operator and driver of Joanna Jesh Transport public utility bus,” the statement read.

A motorist’s viral dashcam video caught the bus speeding on the leftmost lane of EDSA dedicated as a special lane for buses.

The high-speed bus toppled lane barriers, which then hit several vehicles on the adjacent lane.

Authorities “will not hesitate” to slap sanctions on the involved bus company personnel, it added, saying it would“ never tolerate” such actions.

“Let this serve as a warning to all our road transport partners that the DOTr, LTFRB and LTO will never tolerate this irresponsible and reckless manner of driving by authorized PUBs (public utility buses) which poses a danger to life and possible damage to property,” they said.

“We will apply the full force of the law,” they added.
