Bakun Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council</figcaption></figure></div>(UPDATE) Travelers going to Baguio City should avoid Kennon Road and take Marcos Highway instead as heavy rains brought by Typhoon Gorio and the southwest monsoon (habagat) have triggered landslides, blocking road sections.&quot;Dito sa ating Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), kung saan tayo ay nakapagtala ng ilang road sections na naka-experience ng mga landslides, minabuti na ng [pamahalaan] na ipasara muna ang Kennon Road… Marcos Highway muna ang daan natin,&quot; National Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (NDRRM) spokesperson Mina Marasigan told DZMM Saturday morning.(Some road sections experienced landslides, so the government has decided to close Kennon Road…motorists should take Marcos Highway instead.)The Abra-Kalinga Road, Abra-Cervantes Road, Baay Bridge, Manicbel Bridge, Benguet-Nueva Vizcaya Road, Ambuklao Road, and Acop-Kapangan-Kibungan-Bakun Road have also been closed since Friday.According to local officials, only one lane is passable in the Shilan-Beckel, Tawang-Ambiong, and La Trinidad and Santo Tomas roads in Baguio City.Mountain climbing and trekking activities on Mount Pulag and Mount Purgatory have also been suspended, Marasigan said.In Acupan, Itogon, Benguet, 5,000 residents were affected by a mudslide, which also prevented vehicles from passing a damaged bridge.Itogon Mayor Victorio Palangdan said the residents were assisted to safety.Meanwhile, Marasigan said 183 families were evacuated from their homes in the cities of Malabon and Valenzuela in Metro Manila due to flooding.
