The Office of the Ombudsman on Thursday dismissed two Mindanao officials for serious dishonesty on their Statement of Assets, Liabilities and Networth (SALN).

The Ombudsman dismissed Talitay, Maguindanao Mayor Montasir Sabal for serious dishonesty because of untruthful statements in his SALN for 2011, 2013, and 2014.

Records showed that Sabal misrepresented contents of his SALNs as he failed to disclose five real estate properties in Davao City and Cotabato City.

The Ombudsman added that Sabal is perpetually disqualified from public service, his eligibility canceled and his retirement benefits are forfeited.

He will also be facing three counts of perjury, graft, and violation of the Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees before the Sandiganbayan.

Dumingag, Zamboanga del Sur Vice Mayor Nacianceno Pacalioga Jr. was also dismissed for serious dishonesty and falsification of official document in connection with his SALN as mayor for the years 2011, 2012, and 2014.

The Ombudsman said Pacalioga omitted 10 parcels of land in different barangays in his SALN.

It added that Pacalioga claimed he has already waived his right over the properties which they found questionable as the quit claims do not mention any of the the said properties.

Pacalioga was also meted with penalties of forfeiture of retirement benefits and perpetual disqualification from government service.
