Church releases 'special prayer' for dengue, leptospirosis patients

Reginald Malicdem, chancellor of the Manila Archdiocese, said in a circular that due to the &quot;alarming number of those afflicted by dengue fever and leptospirosis in the country,&quot; Cardinal Luis Antonio G. Tagle has requested the faithful to &quot;pray for the healing of those who are sick and for the protection of everyone from these and other illness.&quot;</p><p>The &quot;Oratio Imperata,&quot; or a general prayer which a priest or bishop publicly prays when a disaster or calamity happens, will be prayed at all masses in the archdiocese starting Sunday, Sept. 1, 2019, Malicdem said. </p><p>The health department (DOH) previously said around 208,000 dengue cases have been recorded this year alone.
