<div class="embed-wrap"><figure data-feedback="fb:likes,fb:comments"><img src="http://sa.kapamilya.com/absnews/abscbnnews/media/news-special1/nation/8/31/tornado-s1.jpg"/><figcaption><div class="embed-desc">Residents of Barangay Lambayong in the town of Tampakan in the rubble left by the tornado that has hit their village. <em>Photo by Francis Canlas, ABS-CBN News.</em></div></figcaption></figure></div><p>TAMPAKAN, SOUTH COTABATO - A tornado hit a village in South Cotabato and destroyed houses and agricultural crops.</p><p>Some trees were uprooted, electrical posts were toppled and roofs were ripped when the tornado hit Barangay Lambayong in the town of Tampakan, around 3:00 p.m. Tuesday.</p><p>Residents said they experienced strong winds and rain.</p><p>Sarifa Garcia, 42, was injured and rushed to the hospital when an uprooted coconut tree smashed their house.</p><p>According to her husband, Abner, they were inside their house when it happened. Sarifa was wounded on her forehead and hurt her waist but Abner said she is now in better condition.</p><p>Their house, however, was destroyed.</p><div class="embed-wrap"><figure data-feedback="fb:likes,fb:comments"><img src="http://sa.kapamilya.com/absnews/abscbnnews/media/news-special1/nation/8/31/tornado-s.jpg"/><figcaption><div class="embed-desc">Apart from residences, the tornado also destroyed hectares of banana, corn, and papaya plantation. <span style="line-height:20.8px">Rodolfo Ancheta, a farmer, lost 40 percent of his 4-hectares banana plantation, and lost equivalent to more than P50,000. <em>Photo by Francis Canlas, ABS-CBN News</em></span></div></figcaption></figure></div><div><span style="line-height:1.6">The Barangay Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office of Lambayong recorded that one house was totally damaged, while four were partially destroyed.</span></div><p>More than 10-hectares of banana, corn, and papaya plantations were also destroyed. After the assessment of the Barangay, more than P200,000 worth of houses and crops were damaged.</p>
