Girl, 16, 'raped' by cousin

A 16-year-old girl was allegedly raped by her cousin in Barangay Bagong Silangan, Quezon City Monday dawn.The victim was sleeping beside her three siblings when she was suddenly awakened to find her cousin already on top of her.Caught completely by surprise, the girl shouted for help that prompted the suspect to run away.Police arrested the suspect who was found out to be under the influence of alcohol.In an interview with ABS-CBN News, the suspect admitted going inside the victim’s house but denied sexually assaulting the girl.“Hindi po totoo yun…Nagkuha lang po ako ng ulam doon,” he said.The victim’s mother said she and her husband were at work when the incident occurred. “Nagtratrabaho kami magdamag para lang mapaaral lang namin mga anak namin tapos ngayon sisirain lang ang kinabukasan niya,” she said, seething with anger over what happened.The victim will undergo counseling with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).
