Duterte itinalaga si CA associate Justice Ramon Paul Hernando bilang bagong Supreme Court Associate Justice <a href="https://twitter.com/DZMMTeleRadyo?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">@DZMMTeleRadyo</a> <a href="https://t.co/fV7bhetgQU">pic.twitter.com/fV7bhetgQU</a></p>— Dexter Ganibe (@dzmmRP45) <a href="https://twitter.com/dzmmRP45/status/1049940651758911489?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">October 10, 2018</a></blockquote><div><script async="" src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charSet="utf-8" type="text/javascript"></script></div><p>MANILA-<strong> (UPDATE) </strong>President Rodrigo Duterte has appointed Court of Appeals (CA) Associate Justice Ramon Paul Hernando as the newest magistrate of the Supreme Court, his aide said Wednesday.</p><p>Special Assistant to the President Bong Go said Hernando will be filling up the vacancy left by former SC associate justice and now Ombudsman Samuel Martires.</p><p>Hernando is Duterte&#x27;s seventh appointee to the 15-member Supreme Court after assuming the presidency in mid-2016. </p><p>He bested out Court of Appeals Justices Japar Dimaampao, Ramon Garcia, Manuel Barrios, Apolinario Bruselas, Jr., Rosmari Carandang, Edgardo De Los Santos, and Amy Lazaro-Javier as well as Court Administrator Jose Midas Marquez for the plum Supreme Court post.</p><p>Prior to his appointment at the top court, Hernando was an associate justice of the appellate court.</p><p>He earned his Bachelor of Laws from the San Beda College of Law and was admitted to the bar in 1991.</p><p>He later pursued post-graduate studies at the Ateneo de Manila University Graduate School of Business and San Beda Graduate School of Law.</p><p>Before serving at the appellate court, Hernando was a regional trial court judge in San Pablo City, Laguna and Quezon City. He also worked as a state prosecutor.</p><p>Hernando is also active in the academe, teaching commercial law and civil law at the University of Santo Tomas-Faculty of Civil Law, Far Eastern University Institute of Law, University of San Carlos School of Law and Governance, and Angeles University Foundation School of Law.</p><div><strong>-report from Dexter Ganibe and Mike Navallo, ABS-CBN News</strong></div>
