MANILA - President Rodrigo Duterte has yet to decide on Philippine National Police (PNP) chief, General Oscar Albayalde's fate following the latest allegations linking the top cop to corruption.

Duterte’s spokesman Salvador Panelo said Thursday the President has yet to issue a directive over the embattled police chief’s case after new claims surfaced that Albayalde admitted to receiving a “little” drug loot.

"Wala namang sinasabing bago si Presidente,” Panelo said during a Palace press briefing.

Albayalde was head of the Pampanga police when 13 of its officers were accused of pilfering some 160 kilos of shabu from a 2013 operation against a suspected Chinese drug lord.

Former police official Benjamin Magalong, in a recent Senate hearing, claimed Albayalde sought to defer the dismissal order against his former subordinates.

Albayalde, the second PNP chief under President Duterte, denied the accusations, saying "it seems that everybody is ganging up on me" and that "it’s as if I’m being crucified already."

Panelo also denied rumors that Duterte had ordered Albayalde’s resignation. The PNP chief is set to retire on Nov. 8.

The PNP earlier described Albayalde's supposed resignation as a “false report.”
