MANILA (UPDATED) - Ruling political party PDP-Laban is asking for prayers for its founder and former Senate president Aquilino "Nene" Pimentel Jr., who has been hospitalized.
"We are humbly asking our friends and partymates in the @PDPLABAN to pray for the full recovery of our founder and Chairman Emeritus Tatay Nene Pimentel Jr who is currently in the ICU," the party posted on its official Twitter account.
Pimentel's family said the former lawmaker is "very ill" and is "under treatment."
"Doctors and hospital staff are doing their best to help him. We ardently ask that you join us in prayer for his full and complete recovery," they said in a statement.

President Rodrigo Duterte is currently chairperson of PDP-Laban while Pimentel's son Koko is party president.
