MANILA - Senator Nancy Binay on Tuesday said she would rather focus on her own reelection bid instead of getting caught in between feuding siblings Junjun and incumbent Makati City Mayor Abby Binay.

The eldest of the Binay siblings said in jest that she will try her best to avoid campaigning in Makati City as she has to mount a nationwide campaign anyway.

“May laban din naman ako so mako-concentrate muna ako sa laban ko,” Binay said.

She also said the rift between Abby and Junjun has become difficult to handle not only for their parents but for their children as well.

“Number one priority naming magkakapatid is to isolate our kids sa away na nagaganap,” Binay said.

Their father, former Vice President Jejomar Binay, said he respects Junjun and Abby's decision to run and will leave it up to the people of Makati to choose who best deserves their vote.

The elder Binay acknowledged that Abby will run under the United Nationalist Alliance (UNA), and Junjun will be the candidate of local party, Una ang Makati (UAM).

Junjun on Tuesday filed his certificate of candidacy, tapping Makati 1st District Rep. and former Olympian Monsour Del Rosario as his running mate.

Abby, who has has yet to file hers, said on Monday their father has said he would run alongside her should Junjun also join the race. The former vice president offered no confirmation in his statement released later that day.
