CEBU CITY - Passengers of a motor banca that sank off Cebu were safely assisted aboard a Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) boat on Tuesday morning.

Around 69 passengers, including children, were on the boat from Gilutungan in Cordova town.

They were on their way to Getafe in Bohol when the boat encountered engine trouble past 7 a.m.

The boat was half submerged when PCG personnel arrived.

Rescued passengers, including the boat's 5 crew members, were brought to pier 1 of the Cebu City Port.
