MANILA - The family of the late President Ferdinand Marcos and their supporters from Ilocos Norte returned to the Libingan ng mga Bayani to offer mass to the Marcos patriarch.

"Finally, nagawa na din natin ang hinihiling niya," said former senator Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. who noted that it is only right and fitting that the first visitors of his father's grave are Ilocanos.

The senator thanked their supporters and offered an apology for keeping the burial private.

Marcos' wife, Ilocos Norte Representative Imelda Marcos, likewise expressed her gratitude to their supporters.

“Alam ko na si Marcos ay nanindigan sa katotohanan and if you’re in the side of the truth, God is in your side,” she said.

Marcos was hastily buried on Friday, sparking protests from various sectors who opposed his burial at the Heroes Cemetery.
