Duterte arrives in South Korea

President Rodrigo Duterte has arrived in Busan, South Korea early Monday morning for his attendance to the ASEAN-Republic of Korea Commemorative Summit.The Palace reported that the President’s plane touched down at the Gimjae International Airport in Busan at 1:28 a.m.‬ The President was welcomed upon arrival by Korean Ambassador to the Philippines Han Dong-Man, and Philippine Ambassador to South Korea Noe Wong.Presidential Spokesman Salvador Panelo said the President immediately proceeded to his hotel room to rest.Duterte is set to meet with South Korean President Moon Jae-in Monday afternoon to discuss a wide spectrum of issues including education, free trade and fisheries. He will join President Moon and other ASEAN leaders in at least two plenary sessions on November 26, which will focus on connectivity and on charting the course of relations between ASEAN and South Korea.They will also have a lunch retreat in the afternoon, where leaders will discuss regional and global issues. The denuclearization of North Korea will be among the issues tackled during the summit, Philippine Ambassador to South Korea Noe Albano Wong said earlier.The President is accompanied by several Cabinet members including the heads of the trade, defense, foreign affairs, finance, tourism, education, and agriculture departments.
