MANILA - The Philippine National Police is set to launch a mobile application on human rights on Monday ahead of their possible return to the anti-narcotics drive.

Dubbed "Know Your Rights", the app features anti-torture reminders and the Miranda Warning, which can be accessed even without internet connection, said Chief Supt. Dennis Siervo, head of the PNP Human Rights Affairs Office (HRAO).

The app, which can be downloaded by all Android mobile device users, also contains information on fundamental rights and police operational procedures, said Siervo.

The "Know Your Rights" application, he said, affirms PNP's commitment to protect human rights.

Its launch kicks off the police commemoration of the "National Human Rights Consciousness Week."

The celebration ends on the International Human Rights Day, December 10, which marks the anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

President Rodrigo Duterte has said he would soon return the 170,000-strong PNP at the helm of the crackdown that has seen some 3,800 killed, just barely a month after he removed cops from the campaign due to accusations of rights abuse.
