<div class="embed-wrap"><figure data-feedback="fb:likes,fb:comments"><img src="http://sa.kapamilya.com/absnews/abscbnnews/media/2019/news/12/27/houses-boats.jpg"/><figcaption>Courtesy of Carles MPS</figcaption></figure></div>CARLES, Iloilo— Several island barangays here are still isolated due to communication and transportation problems after Typhoon Ursula wrought destruction in the province, damaging 6,000 houses in this town.At least 14 island barangays in Carles have yet to report to the local disaster management office on the damage caused by the typhoon.Among these barangays are the three remote places on Isla de Gigantes, where Ursula made landfall early morning on Wednesday, Christmas Day.According to information coming from the island, hundreds of houses and fishing and passenger boats were damaged by the typhoon.No casualty has been reported but disaster officials are checking reports that three fishermen missing due to Ursula came from the area.Communication lines are down in Isla de Gigantes, a major tourist destination in northern Iloilo, but ferry trips to the islands have resumed after the first batch of responders were dispatched there Friday morning.
