Barua-Yap's appointment came after the resignation of former Chair Karlo Nograles, Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin confirmed Thursday.

According to the appointment letter signed by Marcos Jr. on October 16, 2024, Barua-Yap will serve a term expiring February 2, 2029.
