Toto Causing as a nuisance candidate in 2025 senatorial elections.</p><div><a href="https://news.abs-cbn.com/news/2024/10/17/comelec-receives-246-petitions-against-halalan-2025-aspirants-1625">Comelec receives 246 petitions against Halalan 2025 aspirants</a> </div><p>Bunyog Secretary General Robert “Culex” Soliman said Causing has a platform and belongs to a party and is a serious candidate. He called on Comelec to make Causing a valid candidate for senator. </p><p>“Ayon sa COMELEC, dahil na-disbar sa pagka-abogado si Engr.Toto, wala na itong integridad, at sa pagtakbo niya bilang kandidato sa Senado, ginagawa niyang katatawanan at mababa ang tingin sa prosesong elektoral. Wow, napakadalisay ng mga tinuran ng COMELEC. Kaya lamang, kung totoo sila sa gayon, bakit si Quiboloy ay sinama nila sa mga kwalipikado umanong tumakbo sa Senado? At bakit marami ang hinahayan nilang tumakbo na may mga kasong kriminal, mandarambong, at iba pang malalalang kaso?” Soliman asked. </p><p>“Totoo, si Engr. Toto ay na-disbar sa pagka-abogado. Pero Comelec na mismo ang nagbanggit sa petition nito na kaya siya na-disbar ay dahil pinost niya sa Facebook ang pleadings ng kasong plunder na isinampa niya laban sa corrupt na pulitiko at mga opisyal sa kanilang lugar sa Mindanao. Hindi siya na-disbar dahil sa imoralidad o pangloloko sa kanyang mga kliyente. Ang pagkaka-disbar niya ay dahil sa ganti sa kanya ng mga kinasuhan niya ng pandarambong at katiwalian,&quot; he added. </p><p>Former DICT Secretary Eliseo Rio supports the group’s call to make Causing a valid candidate. </p><p>“Ano ang basehan nito? Yan ang dapat sagutin ng Comelec. Kung hindi mawawala ang respeto ng tao sa Comelec,” Rio said. </p><p>Bunyog’s other candidate, David D’ Angelo, was included in the Comelec’s initial list of 66 possible official candidates for the 2025 senatorial polls.</p><p>D’ Angelo vouched for Causing’s character, saying he has a track record of service. </p><p>&quot;Sa ngayon pa lang katawa-tawa na (ang senado) kaya nga dapat ang maging kandidato ay hindi [mula sa] political dynasty, hindi mga dakilang scammer ng bayan kagaya ni Apollo Quiboloy na sangkatutak ang tao ang iniscam na minaliit ang batas at nagtago, at katulad  ni Bato na may demand sa ICC. Ang dapat na nagiging kandidato may kredibilidad, naglingkod sa bayan, may public service record na matagal na panahon,&quot; he explained.</p><p>For Causing, he has sincere intention to serve thus he isn&#x27;t a nuisance candidate. He emphasized political dynasties are the real nuisance.</p><p>“Kung sila na lang lagi, paulit ulit na tumatakbo, wala namang nangyayari… Bakit ako tumatakbo? …gusto ko ipasa na ang pagbabawal sa mga pamilya na ginagawa lamang kabastusan ang ating eleksyon sa pamamagitan ng pagtatag ng tinatawag na family dynasty,” Causing said.</p><div><a href="https://news.abs-cbn.com/news/2024/10/17/senate-aspirants-matula-quiboloy-file-separate-petitions-for-disqualification-2059">Senate aspirants Matula, Quiboloy file petitions for disqualification</a></div><p>The Comelec will give the 177 senatorial aspirants the opportunity to explain why they should not be declared nuisance candidates.</p>
