Ferdinand Marcos Jr. led the celebration of the 90th anniversary of the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) at the Manila Hotel on Wednesday. 

With the theme 'Charity: A National Focus', the event also observed the first-ever National Day of Charity. 

In his speech, he cited various programs of PCSO for the past nine decades including medical assistance program, medical transport vehicle donation pogram and institutional partnership program. 

The president also recognized the work of PCSO officials and employees for the past 90 years. 

"Tonight, as we celebrate this milestone, I call upon everyone at PCSO to remember the heart of what you do; continue to uphold integrity, benevolence, and excellence," Marcos said.

"To all the officials and employees of PCSO, past and present and future, thank you for your dedication and for the countless hours that you have put in making this institution a pillar of hope," Marcos added. 

Marcos Jr. also led the unveiling and presentation of PCSO commemorative stamps as well as awarding and recognition of institutional partners. 

He also received a special award to recognize his support to PCSO and his Bagong Pilipinas brand of leadership, noting that it “promotes a sense of national pride and unity which encourages public participation and charitable activities”. 

The award was presented to the president by PCSO General Manager Mel Robles and PCSO Chair Felix Reyes. 

Meanwhile, PCSO General Manager Mel Robles in his speech highlighted the role of charity in national progress. 

"Charity works and initiatives have been elevated as the priority in our national agenda underscoring the vital role and generosity and social responsibility play in our governance and community-building efforts," Robles said.
