As of Sunday afternoon, Wind Signal No. 2 is now up in 13 provinces in northern and Central Luzon: 

-- The northern portion of Aurora (Dilasag, Casiguran, Dinalungan, Dipaculao, Maria Aurora, Baler)

-- Isabela

-- Quirino

-- The southern  portion of mainland Cagayan (Solana, Iguig, Peñablanca, Tuguegarao City, Enrile, Baggao, Alcala, Amulung, Santo Niño, Rizal, Piat, Tuao, Gattaran, Lasam)

-- Nueva Vizcaya

-- The southern portion of Apayao (Kabugao, Conner, Flora, Pudtol)

-- Abra

-- Kalinga

-- Ifugao, Benguet

-- The northern portion of Nueva Ecija (Carranglan, Pantabangan, Lupao, San Jose City)

At 4 p.m., the center of NIKA was estimated at 380 km east of Infanta, Quezon with maximum sustained winds of 110 km/h near the center, gustiness of up to 135 km/h. It is moving Westward at 20 km/h with strong to storm-force winds extend outwards up to 340 km from the center. 

It will intensify into a typhoon today and make landfall over Aurora or Isabela on Monday morning or afternoon. 

Nika will bring torrential rains and very strong winds as it crosses northern Luzon.

Scattered rains and gusty winds may also be experienced in parts of Central Luzon.

Serious and widespread flooding is expected.

It may exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility on Tuesday afternoon or evening.

PAGASA MONITORS LPA OFF MINDANAO 

The Japan Meteorological Agency has meanwhile upgraded the low pressure area east of Mindanao outside the PAR into a tropical depression at 8 a.m. on Sunday. 

Its initial forecast track shows the disturbance will enter PAR on Tuesday and may make landfall in Northern Luzon on Thursday. 

Under PAGASA’s monitoring, the system remains a low pressure area but with high chance of developing into a tropical depression within the next 24 hours.

 The disturbance will be assigned the local name #OfelPH once it enters the PAR.
