Climbers at Mt. Pulag had their trek up the country's third highest peak disrupted after a forest fire on one of the trails.

The Department of Environment and Natural Resources placed the Akiki Trail temporarily on hold because of the fire.

"The DENR and other concerned authorities are currently monitoring and assessing the situation at the Akiki Trail. Please bear with the inconvenience. Additionally, the BFP is currently on-site conducting an investigation on how the fire started," the Department of Tourism said in an advisory sourced from the Cordillera RDRRMC Emergency Operations Center and BFP-Kabayan.

Visitors were diverted to an alternate route, the Ambangeg Trail, the easiest trail.
